Activism is more than a buzzword to Jay—it's a necessity.

Born as a multiply-marginalized Black person in America has compelled Jay to continuously sharpen their consciousness and tongue through rigorous self-love, community care, and an ardent faith in universal autonomy, equity, and self-determination.

She began organizing at Wheaton College following the murder of Mike Brown in 2014 and has not stopped. Black feminist theory, trans liberation, and healing justice are core pieces in Jay's practice of learning and un-learning.

Jay has engaged in transformative circle-keeping with the Restorative Justice Institute, supported strategic communications trainings with multiple JP Morgan Chase and Robert Wood-Johnson Foundation grantees, and facilitated numerous meetings across grassroots community organizations.

From electoral politics to carceral abolition, they constantly analyze the countless intersections of systemic injustice, and consider how we can eliminate these barriers to make room for better worlds to bloom.
